What happens if a band in position #1 has not paid by the time to announce the winner?

The band in the next position who has paid for that month will get the full 25% of the jackpot!

How much do bands have to pay to get on this site?

It's free! But if a band wants to be listed on the ranking system they would have to pay $5.00 for any month they would like to compete in.  If a band decides not to pay for a month, then their name will vanish from the list.  The cool thing is, even though their name will not appear on the ranking system, they still can be voted for on the band list page.  The band list page lists all the bands on this site in alphabetical order.  The drawback on this method is, if they so happen to have the most votes at the end of the month there will be no way for them to tell if they won or not.  The only way for a band to know if they are on top is they have to pay $5.00 to show up on the list.  On that note, some bands may decide to hold off payment until the last couple of days of the month to submit payment.  By doing so makes them eligible to recieve money if they have the most votes for the month or from the random band drawing.

What is the percentage breakdown of the total monthly revenue and how is it allocated?

At the end of every month any dj or band in the #1 spot will receive 25% of the total revenue. 10% will be given to a band who is chosen from the random band drawing and 5% will be given to a fan who is chosen from the random fan drawing. Note: since subscriptions are handled through paypal, paypal fees will be figured into the payout.  As of right now paypal takes 9.1% off of each transaction.

For example: if the total revenue for any given month is $100,000 then the payout would be:

$22,725 ($25000 x 9.1% paypal fee) for the #1 band of the month
$9,090 ($10,000 x 9.1% paypal fee) for the random band winner
$4,545 ($5000 x 9.1% paypal fee) for the random fan winner

What is the purpose of this site?

The purpose of this site is to get bands and dj's more exposure and to also give them a chance to win the money needed to market themselves.

VoteForBands is an excellent way for people to get free music! All you have to do is place a vote for any band to get an mp3 credit. One vote counts as one mp3 credit that can be used to download a song from anyband. Voting is not required to stream mp3's so have a free listen!

VoteForBands is also a breeding ground for artists looking to get signed by major record labels. The record labels will be able to use VoteForBands as a gauge to see what bands are popular amongst the general population. Instead of bands coming to record labels to get signed, the record labels will now be coming to the bands to sign them. Bands and dj's can also use this site to show club promoters and booking agents how popular they really are.

Will bands be able to contact their fans? And is there a fee to obtain a fan contact list?

Yes bands will be able to contact their fans to let them know about their shows and news updates. The fee will be set at $50. This will include automatic updates to their fan list. The list will be attainable in the fans area of your band account.

What if the same band keeps winning the jackpot? How do the rest of the bands ever get a chance to win?

Every month the vote count for each band will be reset to 0. The monthly reset will give every band an equal opportunity to win the jackpot. Also the random drawing will keep everything fair as well.

I heard there is a annual jackpot? What is that and what is the prize?

Yes there is a jackpot winner every year! Although the vote count for each band is reset to 0 each month, a running total will also be tallied up for the annual jackpot. There will be a random drawing between the top 10 bands at the end of the year. The random winner will get 10% of the annual revenue created by the site! If the site generated 1 million dollars for the whole year, the random jackpot winner out of the top ten bands will receive $100,000!!! (well actually $90,900 after the 9.1% paypal fee)  That's not bad considering that the band/dj only had to pay $60 for the whole year.  The drawing will occur on January 1st of each year at midnight.

What about the band who gets the most votes at the end of the year? Do they get anything?

Yes! They will receive a free IPOD and/or 10% of the annual revenue!

Is everyone eligible for the annual jackpot?

Only annual subscribers are eligible to receive the grand jackpot. So make sure you sign up for the 1 year subscription. Monthly subscribers will not be eligible.

What mechanism will drive fans to the site?

That is going to be a combination of how much a band promotes the site to the world, how VFB markets itself, and how much $$$ affiliates want to make promoting the site. Don't forget, bands or dj's can also be affiliates. But the main thing is that this site provides an outlet of premium exposure for its bands to the world.

Is this a secured site because of the address & DOB inquiry requested on the registration form? I would like to register without having to disclose such personal information.

Yes this site is secure and the reason why we require personal information is to filter out impersonators and fraudulent activity. All credit card transactions are processed through paypal so you don't have to worry about identity theft.

What process do you go through in order to pay the winners for the month?.

In order for one to get paid, one must send a copy of their drivers license. Once we confirm that the payee's address information on their license matches the information on their account, we then send them their money. If you cannot provide a drivers license, then we can physically mail you a code. When you receive the code just enter it in the link that we will send you via email when the time comes.
